Agents of chaos - the Sea Peoples |
Historian Eric Cline presents a fascinating lecture on his book "1177 BC: The Year Civilization Collapsed."
In the book and lecture, he focuses on the collapse of an earlier globalised World, in which eight out of nine interlinked civilizations collapsed (Mycenaen, Minoan, Cypriot, Hittite, Mitanni, Assyrian, Babylonian, and Caananite - with only Egypt surviving).
He rejects earlier explanations of the Sea Peoples being the main driver of this, and instead uses objective data to tie it in to a period of prolonged drought, famine, earthquake patterns, invasions, and rebellions leading to a systems collapse and a Dark Age.
